The IntelliTurf family of products is made up of over 60 styles of turf. Most of these styles contain fibers that are over 1 1/2 inches in height. To stand the fibers erect and to hold down the turf, our surfaces utilize natural grain sand that is mined at quarries. This natural grain sand is round and uniform in size. What separates IntelliTurf from many other companies is that we insist on sand that is non-porous or does not have holes. This helps reduce the amount of water the surface holds and reduces the chances of mold and mildew.
Our golf surfaces benefit from this round sand to help the golf shot react just like natural grass. Natural grass golf greens consist of about 18 inches of sand under 3 or 4 millimeters of natural grass. We replicate this surface with an impact pad and over 1 inch of specific round sand so that our low maintenance putting greens are actually golf greens.
Antimicrobial - anti-what? Antimicrobial is a term used to a substance that inhibits the growth of microbes such as bacteria, fungi or viruses. For playgrounds and high traffic pet areas we have the option of installing a sand fill that is coated to help prevent the growth of harmful substances.
